How does one explain this type of suffering?  I know there are worse kinds, but nevertheless it keeps you from living life 100%.

Migraines.  Yes, those horrible “headaches.”  Am I sure I have them?  Yes.  I had one on Monday complete with light sensitivity, movement aggravation, fatigue, smell sensitivity, and throbbing.  Now, I’m on Day 2 of my postdrome aka a migraine hangover.  This stage normally lasts one day for me with no strange effects.  This time, I experienced nausea, cognitive weakness, language troubles, and slight “soreness” where the pain existed.

This one was not the worst ever, but it is the one with the most side effects.

Sometimes I think I may be creating some of these issues, but after having trouble speaking yesterday I became concerned.  I have a family history of migraines and strokes.  For my future, I need to take care of myself.

I believe a full lifestyle change may be in order…soon.  This would include food and exercise.  However, since I am still recovering from this last episode, I will pray and rest.

I’ll be honest, this is frightening.  I’m taking proper steps.  Growing into my next stage in life with this obstacle along the way will be extremely fascinating.  I’m determined…and the best part is I am not alone.  My support system is amazing…

Hope on the Horizon

Finally.   Officially, I am an adjunct instructor for the college facility on the local navy base!  I’ll be teaching Introduction to Geography and World Geography.  As crazy as some may think it is, I will also be substitute teaching in the local public schools.

Honestly, we’ll see how it all works out.  I’m just happy to have something in the realm of work.  The college environment will be totally different than the other…

Here’s to a new adventure!

Oh, I probably haven’t mentioned thewedding planning. Yes, that is also happening.  I’m so excited to start my life with my best friend!  🙂  He’s amazing, listens to my ramblings, and makes me feel…wonderful.

Lost or Found? I’m feeling a bit inbetween…

Lately, my life has been polarized.  I’m extremely excited to marry the best guy I’ve known my entire life in December.  However, even with the numerous applications and interviews, I have failed to find a job.  I don’t feel like I have failed, though.  Those decisions all come down to things that I have no control over and no power to influence.  Thus, making me feel thoroughly helpless and frustrated.

I do wake up each day, albeit, very slowly.  My family and friends are amazing and supportive.  I’m happy to be around them while I try to establish a new chapter of my life.  This fellowship makes me feel grounded.

What to do?  My industry of expertise doesn’t seem to want to keep me in those roles.  Making my way into the public school system as a substitute teacher or regular full time teacher sounds daunting.  College teaching is attainable and I’m experienced, but it is also hard to get into if they already have people in mind for the roles.  This situation makes me feel lost, hopeless.

This is just a small peek into the life that seems to march on as it has these several months…  So, I keep praying and working towards anything and everything.  I know there is a plan for me and I’m being encouraged to learn patience.

Patient and working diligently, I will wait.

My Free Julep Maven Welcome box!!

Here’s my ‘FREEBOX’ from Julep! Excited!

I adore the nail colors! I’m currently wearing the green/purple transition color. I adore wearing it. It doesn’t glide on as well as the one from Birchbox. I did invest in a good color for that product!

The Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum seems to be legitimate.  I’m a no-fuss girl, so simplicity is KEY.  This stuff dries FAST!  I’ll probably use it as directed until my hands are healed for the first time in 28 years.  😉

I’ll give more reviews as I try these out!

While the colors are amazing (I’ve used the green/purple and the light pink), they take FOREVER to fully dry.  I’m not a patient person AT ALL.  Needless to say, I have dents and smudges on my nails.  I do not have the time to wait 20 minutes for a perfect finish (using a hair dryer).  I’m not made that way.

Keepsakes. :)

Spring cleaning? It’s that time of year! So, okay, I have really made those efforts yet. However, mom and I came across this sign from our move from Connecticut back to the South. We couldn’t keep the actual poster anymore, so this digital version of it will have to work!

Great IMHO…less physical space! Space is of value to mom and I. We have way too much stuff. In two houses, we are storing four households: my parents’, mom’s parents’, my Great Aunt Wilma, and mine (both stored and inherited). Fun, right? Yeah…sure. 😉

Sarcastic, fun random post indeed!

“Adios!” from the Fulton Family Cookie Company!

Limited Edition: Birchbox Finds

An assortment of full size drug store beauty products to try out for $18?  Yes, please!  (See the picture below to see the actual retail prices!  What a deal!)  This girl has trouble selecting new products to try when the time comes to restock on facial cleaners, lip care, mascara, etc.  You can imagine how quick I jumped on this opportunity to try out some new products!

What are my usual stand-by’s and preferences?

Merle Norman has my favorite mineral foundation, concealer, hand cream lotion, eye liners, facial moisturizers, and some eye shadows.

Clinique is my go-to for eye liners, mascara (I have sensitivities), and eye shadows.  I’m currently trying out their Laser Focus line of anti-aging products.

My preferences are not on the inexpensive side of the spectrum, but they are definitely not ultimate high end preferences either.

The Beautiful Box of Full Size Products

John Frieda Frizz Ease® Nourishing Oil Elixir

Hair products I am constantly changing out.  I only have a few that I’m committed to.  This John Frieda option directly competes with one of them.  After using this elixir on my fine hair to enhance shine and smooth out fly-aways, I was happy with it.  I’m not willing to replace my favorite product, but the Frizz Ease is a good second.  PLUS, it’s much more cost-effective.

Rating: Works well for me.  Good chance of purchasing after supply is exhausted.

Rimmel London Stay Glossy 3D Lipgloss (Back Row Smooch)

Lipgloss is one of those products I use very rarely.  I’m a lip balm girl — preferably a tinted lip balm.  This product can be used on top of any lip balm or lip stick.  This product goes on super slick and stays for a while.  Reapplication is a must…I’m not good at that.  Go figure.  It has a pearlescent shine to it that provides the “3D” look.  I’m not wild for it.  There’s no flavor or scent either, so that doesn’t draw in my heartstrings either.

Rating: Meh.  It’ll work, but I will not go out of my way to purchase.

COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume by LashBlast™ Mascara

Very, very good alternative to my more expensive preferences for mascara.  No clumping.  Great lash separation and volume.  My skin and eyes did not react at all which is wonderful!  The only complaint was the extra time it took to remove the mascara.  Of course, that’s a good sign that the product will stay over the course of a day.

Rating: For cash strapped moments or emergency make up trips, this is a great find for my make up repertoire.  I will definitely keep this in my “must have” file.
COVERGIRL Bombshell Shine Shadow by LashBlast™

This product is a home run.  I am constantly experimenting with my eye color.  My inner child always wants to use glitter, shimmer, and shine.  Sparkly = Happiness.  Of course, since I am a grown-up now sparkle must be used in moderation 95% of the time.  This product allows me to smooth a layer of shine to my matte eye shadows.  Given that this product is white, it is a good highlighter in a high concentration of use.  I’ve used it for a subtle shimmer in the corner of my eyes to brighten up my look.  Obviously, I’m still experimenting.

Rating: New mainstay in my eye shadow collection and routine.

NIVEA Kiss of Care & Color (Sheer Pink)

NIVEA has always been a trusted brand in my mind.  Their products have rescued my chapped and sore lips on many occasions.  This product is no different.  My lips feel soft, smooth and conditioned.  There is really no flavor, but it is not waxy either.  Just soft.

Rating: As someone who tends to misplace many of her lip care products and tends to carry many in her purse, this one will probably be purchased for regular use.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

This mask makes my face feel cleaner than it has in years.  Very happy with it.  I’m lazy when it comes to washing and polishing my skin.  Thanks to Birchbox I’m learning some new habits courtesy of the products BB proposes.

Rating: Good product.  Will probably purchase for my evolving skincare routine.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure™ (Kook A Mango)

Okay, so I wasn’t real sure about this nail polish.  It’s actually a base, top and color gel polish in one.  Being the anti-manicured female that I am, I had no idea what the description was talking about.  The color didn’t help.  Kook A Mango?  Really?  It’s a neon orange with a pinkish tone to it.  Those people who know me well know that I detest orange unless it is Autumn.  So, in the name of adventure, I coated my toe nails AND my finger nails with Kook A Mango.  I’m surprised.  I like it.  Now, if I hadn’t been adventurous, I never would have known that orange was a decent color for me to wear.  I’m also excited that the polish is in the same family of neon colors that are in my Under Armour headbands.   Did I mention that the finish is gloriously smooth?  That’s amazing when you consider the childish nature with which I approach nail painting.

Rating: Surprisingly wonderful.  Will definitely purchase in different colors!

My FAV Coffee Tumbler!

I adore my coffee and teas.  They keep me sane on so many levels.  I know there are plenty of you out there that share my same passion.

Why do I love these?

– Keeps my coffee warm for HOURS.  If for some reason I haven’t finished my coffee by noon, I know that it will still be very warm.  There’s nothing worse than going for a sip of coffee and having it be ice cold.

– Spill proof (within reason).  Yes, I’m a proven and admitted klutz.  I drop everything.  This tumbler saves my beverage from certain death!  Yay!  There are dings and marks on my tumblers to prove these events did indeed happen.

– Tea Lovers: The Teavana tumblers come with built in “tea basket” to steep your tea within the container.  Great for people on-the-go.

– Even in my vehicle, the lip for drinking minimizes the spillage.

– None are dishwasher-safe.  Don’t quote me on this!  Always check the item’s care instructions.

– Limited color and styles.

– Not Microwave safe.

– Teavana tumbler’s coating will eventually come off.  I “happen” to put mine in the dishwasher once and 1/3 of the purple coating was gone.  It did not detract from its functionality though!

Birchbox: 2014 February

I subscribed to the women’s Birchbox starting this month.  I was excited to get it and try some new products out.  Some were disappointing and others were pleasantly surprising.

Joan Vass: L’eau de Opale

Most perfumes trigger headaches and migraines.  So, you can imagine my dismay when I saw this in my box.  I still gave it a shot.  However, I wasn’t a fan of the musky scent even though it was light enough to be tolerable.  Thanks, Birchbox, but I’ll stick with Victoria’s Secret’s Love Spell.

Mox Botanicals: Bath Milk Calendula & Oatmeal

Honestly, this was another disappointment.  I adore baths, but I’m not living in a house with a good bathtub.  Oh well.  I may wait to try this on a vacation weekend or give it to one of my girl friends to try out for me.

OPI: Sheer Tints in I Can Teal You Like Me

This was neat.  I can’t wait to try this out with one of my favorite nail polishes.  Given the color is teal, I probably won’t use it solo.

*LOVE* This is a product I can promote to everyone I know (especially if they have fine hair like I do).  I honestly wasn’t going to try this one out.  I had my doubts.  However, I jumped in and WOW.  The perfect bun for my hair.  😀

Harney & Sons Fine Teas: Classic Black Tea & White Vanilla Grapefruit White Tea

I’m a BIG Teavana fan.  I was excited yet sad to see these in my box.  I get enough “tea-adventure” through teavana.  I’d like to concentrate my Birchbox to Beauty products.  Both teas are very yummy.  I’m a big fan of black teas.  The Grapefruit flavored tea was amazing as well.

Overall, this month’s box was an adventure for sure.  Looking forward to March!

I also ordered the Limited Edition: Birchbox Finds.   🙂  I’ll give a full report once I get that in!
